Roadtrip 2016 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - John Day River - Port Orford - Florence - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 31 - The Coastal Trail south of Otter Point

The big day has arrived. The CNN analysts can barely contain themselves.

Otter Point once again calls. Today, we're heading south.

The tide is still too high to brave the headland bench.

So, we stick to the highlands.

Bushwhacking is required.

Emma becomes one with the grasses.

The Coastal Trail leads to the beach! We immediately find a large piece of Oakland, which appears to have floated away in last week's storm.

The Flotsam of the Day.

The World-Famous Oregon Sphinx. Of course, strange things always happen anywhere there is a Sphinx.

Stonesharks suddenly appear, scattering the tourists enjoying the World-Famous Oregon Sphinx.

Tracks left behind by the Army's new Armoured Amphibious Beach Assault Unicycle. Our pictures of the actual unicycle were confiscated by these guys in black suits, earpieces and cool sunglasses.

The birds are all headed south - concerned about tonight's election results - they're thinking Mexico may be a good idea.

The sky has been brooding all day. Could be the impending election.

Odd gull out. This fellow has decided to stay feet down. Politics don't concern him.

More winged ones fly with determination.

Of course, all good days end with a game of beach ball.

CNN's all reved up - but no news yet.

Tonight's glowing sunset - yes it is.

Just in case you didn't believe the last sunset - this one should clarify it for you.

The results start to roll in - and are a little surprising - but the night is young. Wolf's voice is going higher and higher.

The unbelievable has happened. No glass ceilings will be broken tonight.
